Villarreal to Present Research on Viruses’ Role in Evolution

Luis P. Villarreal, Center for Virus Research director and molecular biology & biochemistry professor, will present a paper on “Virus in the Haystack: How Viruses Promote Group Selection” at the 150th Anniversary of the Reading of the Darwin/Wallace Papers and Conversazione. The event, titled “The Driving Forces of Evolution: From Darwin to the Modern Age,” will be hosted by the Linnean Society of London, the world’s oldest active biological society. Renowned virologist Lynn Margulis will be the keynote speaker, and Villarreal will chair the session dedicated to the role that viruses have played in evolution.
