A. Briscoe Receives Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB) Diversity Award
June 30, 2008

Dear Colleagues,

Join me in congratulating Adriana Briscoe, Associate Professor in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, has been selected the 2008 recipient of the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB) Diversity Award. The award, sponsored by the Burroughs Wellcome Fund, was established to recognize outstanding achievement by an early stage life scientist from an underrepresented minority group. Adriana studies the mechanisms and consequences of evolution of genes -- her famous butterfly studies have been highlighted in several venues. The FASEB Diversity Award was also established to recognize an individual who has contributed significantly to service and mentoring via local and national leadership that will lead to improved opportunities for minorities in the scientific workforce. So Adriana is recognized for multifaceted excellence and service.

Congratulations,Adriana, for this significant and much-deserved recognition, and thank you for bringing such an honor to UCI.
