The Biological Sciences Student Affairs Office is committed to
assisting students on their path to graduation as well as towards
career goals. Our Office coordinates our academic advising program
and provides academic counseling as well as special services particularly
in the area of preprofessional career counseling. Students should
consult the Biological Sciences Student Affairs Office for information
on academic requirements for the degree, career opportunities, the
Biological Sciences 199 Research Program, available tutoring for
Bio Sci classes, and scholarship information. Students can also
come to the Office to change their major, apply for graduation or
for any other help they might need related to their academic career
at UCI. The Office also provides information about opportunities
for participation as well as leadership roles in student organizations
and biological sciences classes coordinated by students.
Peer academic advisors also plan an important role in providing
advice and guidance. They are an excellent resource for course
planning and provide a valuable student's perspective on which classes
to take, how to best prepare for an exam, and information on successful
study skills. Because they are often seniors, they will also have
first-hand information on applying to professional or graduate school.
