The School of Biological Sciences aspires to excellence in research and teaching.
Our mission is to create new knowledge about biological processes and principles,
and to disseminate this knowledge by educating and mentoring undergraduate students,
graduate students and postdoctoral trainees about both the factual knowledge
and the experience of discovery in biology. Consistent with this mission, we are
committed to equity and diversity to ensure excellence, and we reach out to pre-college
students and to the community in which we live to inspire an interest in science, to
contribute to a public debate about the nature of science and the role of science
in society, both now and in the future, and to transfer new technologies into the public realm.
