Welcome to the Biological Sciences Dishwashing and Autoclave Facility.
We would like to extend our greetings to those who may not be aware of our area. We are a small interdepartmental industrial dishwashing, autoclaving, baking, biohazardous materials processing and disposal service.
The unique services that we offer are:
Dishwashing
We professionally pre wash scientific glassware, then wash and dry them in our industrial dishwashers and dryers. Most dishwashing orders are processed within a turn around time of 24 hours.
Special Note: IF WE BREAK ANYTHING, WE CREDIT YOUR ACCOUNT WITH AN EQUAL AMOUNT OF SERVICES
We offer hand washing for specialty glassware that cannot be washed or dried in an industrial machine.
The recharge rate for this service is $16.50 per hour.
Autoclaving
We offer self-service or full service autoclaving. We have five industrial self-service autoclaves that are available to clients 24 hours a day, every day.
In our ‘full service’ autoclave service we will put your items in the autoclave unit - and then take them out for you when they are finished.
Upon request, we will call you as soon as they are ready. We also have two large autoclaves that are used for large orders and overnight autoclaving.
Also upon request, we will supply and apply aluminum foil on cleaned glassware, then sterilize through autoclaving (steam sterilization) or overnight baking.
This service is provided at a re-charge rate of $5.00 per load
Biohazardous Waste Materials
Solid biohazardous waste materials may be autoclaved in the autoclave facility, but only if the waste in from a Biosafety Level 1 (BSL1) process. BSL2 and BSL3 derived waste must be picked up by EH&S for disposal off site. Here is the link to the biohazardous or medical waste pick up request:
Solid BSL1 waste must be stored in white or opaque biohazard bags. A recharge rate of $10.00 per bag is in effect. Please provide the recharge account and fund at the time the waste is brought to the autoclave facility. The recharge applies whether the autoclave staff runs the autoclave for you, or if you run one of the self-service units, which are available 24 hours per day (Except during steam shutdowns or power outages).
