2017 Blaise Pascal Medal for Life Sciences

University Professor and Donald Bren Professor of Biological Sciences Francisco J. Ayala has been awarded the European Academy of Sciences’ Blaise Pascal Medal for Life Sciences. Professor Ayala was selected to receive this honor in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field of evolutionary genetics, which include his groundbreaking work on the biology of malaria transmission. Established in 2003, the Blaise Pascal Medal is awarded to individuals who “Demonstrate extraordinary contributions to science and technology, and promote excellence in research and education.”
