New Grant to Help Identify Alzheimer’s Disease Biomarkers

A team of UCI scientists led by Michael Yassa, Ph.D., Neurobiology and Behavior Professor and Director of the Center for the Neurobiology of Learning and Memory, has been awarded a $3.8 million grant from the National Institute on Aging to identify early indicators of dementia at a point where disease-related brain alterations accumulate, but before symptoms can be observed. Their work will utilize breakthrough brain imaging technology and help pave the way for effective preventive treatments for Alzheimer’s.
