Dr. Norman M. Weinberger, founding faculty member and respected mentor, began his university career on January 1, 1965, just 8 months before the doors opened to the first UCI students later that September. During his entire career, Norm was dedicated to university service. He helped found the Center for the Neurobiology of Learning and Memory, planned the construction of multiple buildings within the Ayala School of Biological Sciences, and served in several campus leadership roles, all while helping to raise seven children. For those who knew Norm well, he was 100% professional and always 100% family.

Above all else in his professional career, Norm loved serving as a professor, teacher, and mentor. One of the most satisfying aspects of his career was the knowledge that his research would continue thanks to the many graduate students and junior researchers that he had mentored during his 50 years at UCI. His passion towards education was so great that he maintained an active engagement with his graduate students and his research until the end of his life. In honor of his dedication, and love for research and UCI, our family has launched the Norman M. Weinberger Memorial Award for Graduate Student Research in his name. We are calling on your support to help future graduate students in the Department of Neurobiology and Behavior carry on the legacy, and ask that you consider making a gift to the award fund. Our hope is that the award will help future students follow in the footsteps of our Distinguished Professor Norman M. Weinberger.

With warmth and appreciation,

Jacquie Weinberger
