School of Biological Sciences Professor Advocates for Federal Funding of Environmental Research

Ecology and Evolutionary Biology Professor Steven D. Allison traveled to Washington D.C. on March 8 to advocate for federal funding of environmental research. Joined by his colleagues Jutta Burger (Irvine Ranch Conservatory), and Professors Amy Zanne (George Washington University) and Jennifer Funk (Chapman University), Professor Allison made the trip to better inform local congressional representatives about the positive impacts of federal research dollars before the upcoming debate on the 2018 federal budget.  “Federal dollars granted towards environmental research support more than just climate change studies. They support our local land conservation and development efforts, and our students and local businesses,” says Professor Allison.
