Dr. Kim Green, Assistant Professor of Neurobiology and Behavior, has been awarded the 2015 Golden Apple Award by the School of Biological Sciences. The Golden Apple Award, given annually since 2004, was announced by Dean Frank M. LaFerla on June 4th during the Biological Sciences School’s Graduate Honors Convocation and Teaching Awards Ceremony. This award honors outstanding contributions of educators who inspire students and create innovative teaching programs at the Biological Sciences School.

A faculty member since 2010, Professor Green studies neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease and microglia. He clearly has a passion for and believes in the true spirit of teaching and has received consistently high instructor scores. Professor Green’s most recent Bio 93 teaching evaluations were 3.87, 3.88 and 3.87 out of a perfect 4.00. He has been praised by his students as “creating a fun learning environment”, “makes the material fun to learn, very engaging, very approachable”, and notably, “very entertaining while also explaining concepts very well.” Professor Green has established a respectful, positive and supportive classroom environment which is clearly evident from his students’ feedback.
