July 11, 2025

Congratulations to Andrea Tenner, Distinguished Professor of Molecular Biology & Biochemistry and Professor of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine and Neurobiology & Behavior, who has been selected to receive the 2025 Hans Müller-Eberhard Award from the International Complement Society. This prestigious honor recognizes Professor Tenner’s seminal contributions to the complement field and her impact on advancing our understanding of innate immunity and its role in health and disease.

As the awardee, Professor Tenner will deliver the Hans Müller-Eberhard Plenary Lecture on September 16 at the 30th International Complement Workshop in Brisbane, Australia. The Complement Society, a global professional organization, promotes the advancement of complement research, clinical applications and collaboration across scientific disciplines. This award is among the highest distinctions in the field and reflects Professor Tenner’s outstanding leadership, research excellence and longstanding dedication to mentoring and scientific progress.

Professor Tenner’s groundbreaking work has illuminated how the complement system, an essential part of the body’s immune defense, shapes neuroinflammatory processes and contributes to neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s. Her research continues to influence therapeutic strategies and deepen our understanding of immune mechanisms in the brain. This new recognition follows her receipt of the Society for Leukocyte Biology’s 2023 Legacy Keynote Lecture Award, further cementing her status as a leader in immunology and neurobiology.

Please join the Dunlop School in congratulating Professor Tenner on this well-deserved and remarkable honor.
