Bio Sci faculty Marcelo Wood wins Professor of the Year and lecturer wins TA Development Award

Congratulations to our School of Biological Sciences colleagues who have been chosen as 2014 Celebration of Teaching Award Recipients.  The awards will be presented on Thursday, April 24 at the 21st Annual Celebration of Teaching program. Recipients were selected on a campus-wide, competitive basis by the Academic Senate Council on Student Experience using nominations from faculty and students.

Marcelo Wood, ?Neurobiology & Behavior

Marcelo Wood is also the Chair of the Department of Neurobiology and Behavior since January 1, 2014. He previously served as director of the Interdepartmental Neuroscience Program in the School of Biological Sciences.

Debra Mauzy-Melitz, ?Developmental & Cell Biology

Debra is a Lecturer in the Department of Developmental and Cell Biology.

 

 

Marsh_J.DC.2721Dean’s Honoree for Excellence in Undergraduate Education:
Larry Marsh, ?Developmental & Cell Biology

Larry Marsh is a professor of Developmental and Cell Biology in the School of Biological Sciences. He is a Fellow AAAS member and wsa the former director of the Developmental Biology Center.

Pedagogical Fellows – Mentor TAs who develop and implement the campus-wide TA Professional Development Program. They offer peer training workshops throughout the year:

  • Cristian Aguilar, Developmental & Cell Biology
  • Anne Phan, Developmental & Cell Biology

Congratulations to the above honorees for being recognized for excellence in undergraduate teaching, which recognize our school’s dedication to quality undergraduate education.  Marcelo is the fourth Bio Sci professor to receive Professor of the Year, in the past seven years, continuing a great trend at the Biological Sciences School.
