Lauds & Laurels is the university’s oldest awards ceremony, a tradition that has recognized more than 800 members of the UCI community for their service to the university, the community or their profession. The UCI Alumni Association hosted it’s 49thannual Lauds & Laurels Awards this spring to recognize the alumni, students, faculty and staff who demonstrate heartfelt dedication and commitment to UCI. The School of BioSci was proud to recognize and celebrate Devansu Tewari ’93, M.D. ’97, MBA ’14 as its Distinguished Alumnus.

Dr. Tewari is a gynecologic oncologist with Kaiser Permanente. He has been directing the Department of Gynecologic Oncology since 2007 in Orange County, CA and has overseen its development into one of the largest and most comprehensive programs within the organization, incorporating the surgical and chemotherapeutic disciplines into the management of gynecologic cancers.

As an alumnus of the School of Biological Sciences, Dr. Tewari has demonstrated a great desire and commitment to advancing high impact causes both inside and outside the university. For the past few years, Dr. Devansu Tewari and his wife, Dr. Nita Tewari, have become increasingly involved with BioSci as volunteers, donors, and most recently as members of our Dean’s Leadership Council.

In consideration of his history, education, engagement with the community, dedication to his patients and students at UCI, Dr. Devansu Tewari is very deserving of this award.
