In her new role as Director of Finance at UCI BioSci, Rhoda Peng has broad financial and administrative responsibilities for the development and recommendation of school-wide policies and procedures, coordinates the budget planning and allocation process, and implements management controls for all financial resources of the school. She will also provide leadership, management and direction of the School’s finance team.
Rhoda has a history of service to UC for over 20 years and has been with the UCI BioSci finance team for the past two years. But her special connection with UCI and BioSci started long ago with her undergrad studies here, and a minor in management at the Mirage School of Business. After she earned her Master of Public Health from UCLA, she returned to UCI for her MBA.
Her professional career started as an auditor at public accounting firm, Deloitte and Touche. After receiving her CPA certificate there, she launched her career at UCLA Healthcare and then transferred to UCI School of Medicine. “I feel like I’m coming back to where I began,” Rhoda said. “I am thrilled to witness how UCI has grown to be a top public university and really enjoy my role in supporting the missions of the institution.”
Before she came to BioSci, she served as Associate Director of Finance for UCI University Physicians and Surgeons (Physician Billing Office) leading the finance and decision support units to implement finance management projects and reporting initiatives. Earlier, as Director of Finance at UCI School of Medicine, Dean’s Office, she provided full oversight to the financial affairs and fiscal operations of that school. Rhoda looks forward to continuing to build a service-oriented Finance team at the Dean’s Office. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking for her family and going to concerts with her musical children who play piano, cello, and violin.
