Qing Nie, Chancellor’s Professor of developmental and cell biology & mathematics, and Xiaohui Xie, professor of computer science, have led a team of UCI scientists to develop a new deep-learning framework that predicts gene regulation at the single-cell level. Until now, that process had been limited to tissue-level analysis. Their study was published recently in Science Advances.
