Professor Diane Campbell, Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, received a Fulbright Senior Specialist award to teach and research in South Africa. The Fulbright Specialist Program promotes linkages between U.S. scholars and their counterparts at host institutions overseas. Dr. Campbell taught workshops in multivariate statistics in ecology to postgraduate students at the University of KwaZulu-Natal working on a wide variety of organisms, from flowering plants to rhinoceros. She also conducted joint field research with South African colleagues on the complex mixture of volatile compounds produced by night-blooming plants and how those compounds influence behavior of moth pollinators and enforce the reproductive isolation important to speciation.
