POSITION DESCRIPTION
Research in the Kong laboratory focuses on understanding the crosstalk between signaling pathways, metabolic regulation, and epigenetics in cancer, diabetes, obesity, and aging.
We are particularly interested studying:
1) crosstalk between metabolism and epigenetics;
2) using diet/metabolites to sensitize current therapeutic response for cancer treatment;
3) mechanisms to regulate metabolic homeostasis.
We apply a combination of mammalian genetics, biochemistry, bioinformatics and metabolomics tools, using both in vitro and in vivo models to address those questions. Our ultimate goal is to develop novel therapies to restore normal metabolism and improve treatment for cancer and metabolic diseases.
Requirements
The ideal candidate should be self-motivated with a PhD or MD/PhD degree with strong academic training in either cell biology, immunology, cancer, biochemistry, pigenetics/genetics, signaling or metabolic related diseases. The candidate should have the major responsibility and leadership for the research programs and must demonstrate continuous and effective engagement in independent and creative research activity of high quality and significance.
