UCI invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor position to join the faculty of the Department of Neurobiology and Behavior in the School of Biological Sciences at the University of California, Irvine.

Ideal applicants will employ addiction-relevant behavioral models in rodents or other model organisms and will conduct research that integrates cutting edge neuroscience techniques and conceptually innovative approaches to better understand the biological bases of addiction and related disorders. Additional research interests may include the intersection of social environment with drug use and/or comorbidity of drug use with other disorders/disease states, such as psychiatric conditions, metabolic disorders, or infectious disease.

Applicants should hold a Ph.D., M.D.-Ph.D., or equivalent degree(s) and demonstrate evidence for a rigorous research program based on prior research productivity and future research plans. Evidence of securing prior extramural funding will be evaluated positively. Applicants are expected to contribute to teaching at both the graduate and undergraduate levels and demonstrate a commitment to service and leadership at UCI and wider communities. The successful candidate will be able to leverage and complement existing strengths of the Department of Neurobiology and Behavior, as well as the UCI neuroscience research community including the Irvine Center for Addiction Neuroscience (ICAN). Additional points of synergy may include the Center for the Study of Cannabis, Center for Depression Research, Conte Centers, Center for Neural Circuit Mapping, and Center for Neurobiology of Learning and Memory.
